Shamiz Kachwalla

Shamiz Kachwalla had severe ulcerative colitis that saw him hospitalized for weeks and when his health continued to deteriorate under the “care” of the medical system, doctors recommended that he remove a section of his bowel. This procedure is called a colostomy and it allows faeces and gas to leave the body via the stoma with a small disposable bag worn on the outside of the body to collect the faeces. He was 22 years old at the time and surgery seemed not only extreme but would involve additional months of hospitalization.
