The collateral damage of childhood trauma, exclusion and government failures. A survivor speaks out.
Stuart has bravely come forward to share his story of childhood abuse. Renee his support worker has assisted him for over 4 years to get redress, but not only has this process further traumatised Stuart but also Renee. After a gruelling process, compensation was denied on the basis that the abuse did not occur on naval grounds.
To add insult to injury, Stuart’s NDIS funding was cut for counselling.
A moving story of how the system is failing survivors but also of how trauma is passed down through generations, and the ongoing health effects that the original abuse had on Stuart, his children and grandchildren.
As a society, we need to do better and it starts with awareness and people sharing their stories.
Please have a listen and share this very raw and heart felt interview.
If you are a victim of abuse, similiar in experience to Stuart please reach out to Renee, for potential class action.
