Dr Chris Neil, President of AMPS

Speaks with Australian Health Professionals

Recorded Live Tuesday 23rd of August 2022 and Hosted by Dan Hanson of Health Alliance Australia. Dr Chris Neil, President of AMPs (Australian Medical Professionals Society) discussed the Altman Report, a comprehensive report by Dr Phillip Altman: The Time of Covid, released in Australia, August 2022.

Dr Christopher Neil is a mid-career cardiologist, having been continuously engaged in medicine or the study of medicine for 26 years. Since specialisation, he has undertaken doctoral and post-doctoral studies, being successful in obtaining research grants, completing investigator-driven studies and supervising and co-supervising higher degree research students to completion, in addition to supervising and mentoring multiple physicians in training.

His passion within medicine has been the optimisation of care for patients with chronic heart failure and he has been privileged to co-develop better models of service within the public hospital system.

Dr Neil is also married with eight children. Due to a variety of concerns, Dr Neil elected not to receive vaccination against COVID-19 despite the mandation of these in Victoria in October 2021.

He was a founding member of AMPS and since then has been involved in a variety of pursuits beyond medicine, including standing in the federal election this year and engaging in the advocacy work of AMPS, of which he is the incoming President. He has expertise in all areas of general cardiology and non-invasive diagnostic cardiac imaging, together with subspecialty interests in heart failure, cardiomyopathies and cardiac magnetic resonance.
